Course context for academic year 2022-23

El auge de las redes de información ha hecho que cada vez sean necesarias más prestaciones que implican la gestión de contenidos multimedia. Las velocidades de transferencia obligan a utilizar técnicas de compresión que permitan el tratamiento de dichos contenidos superando las restricciones físicas de los canales de comunicación y de los equipos.

Otra necesidad que obliga al uso de técnicas de compresión es el almacenamiento masivo de la información que crece por encima de las posibilibidades de crecimiento de los soportes. 

La comunicación multimedia juega un papel importante en múltiples áreas de la sociedad actual como la política, la economía, la industria, la defensa, las redes sociales o el entretenimiento; habiendo crecido enormemente en los últimos años las aplicaciones que acceden a sistemas y contenidos multimedia a través de la red.

Es de suma importancia asegurar los datos multimedia proporcionando servicios de confidencialidad, integridad, autenticidad e identidad y abordar diferentes problemas como el cifrado de datos, la autenticación multimedia, la gestión de derechos digitales, etc.

  • C17 : Understand and apply the fundamentals of digital image and video in their different formats, as well as the technical and creative dimensions of tools for the acquisition, production, edition and post-production of images.
  • C18 : Understand and apply the fundamentals of digital sound and image in their different formats, as well as the technical and creative dimensions of tools for the acquisition, production, edition and post-production of images.
  • C22 : Guarantee acceptable quality levels (performance, security, continuity, integrity, reliability) when distributing and storing multimedia content.
  • C9 : Understand the fundamentals of information theory and be able to choose the best compression and coding systems for the transmission, storage and protection of multimedia content.
