Course context for academic year 2013-14
CONTEXTUALIZACIÓN. Tiene como objetivo situar la asignatura en el perfil profesional, en el plan formativo del grado y su coordinación con el resto de asignaturas.
Es necesario incluir esta asignatura de introducción a la Criminología al comienzo de los estudios de grado, ya que va a aportar al alumno una serie de conocimientos básicos sin los que le será difícil comprender asignaturas posteriores. Se trata de una asignatura de presentación de los contenidos que va a estudiar posteriormente en otras asignaturas. La familiarización con la terminología criminológica será igualmente de gran ayuda para la comprensión de las materias que se van a impartir en cursos posteriores.

Specific Competences (CE)
- CE1 : Be able to describe fundamental concepts in the fields of psychology, sociology, law and natural sciences that are needed to provide a global analysis of criminal phenomena and deviation.
- CE2 : Be able to describe the fundamental theoretical approaches to criminal acts, victimisation and responses to crime and deviation.
- CE3 : Be able to extract and synthesise information from different sources, including: handling information and communication technologies, designing and applying appropriate research strategies for compiling data using quantitative and qualitative methods, and being able to apply basic statistical techniques to questions related to crime and victimisation when necessary.
- CE4 : Be able to describe and evaluate social and political processes of victimisation and criminalisation in the light of criminological theories (dynamics existing between the victim, crime, deviant conduct and the main agents and institutions related to the response to criminal acts and deviation).
- CE7 : Be able to identify the principles and processes, including human rights and public freedoms, on which penal and juvenile justice systems are based, as well as the execution of sentences and measures for security and the alternative resolution of conflict.

- Manejar los materiales básicos de las fuentes de conocimientos de la criminología
- Manejar un vocabulario específico y básico de términos criminológicos
- Saber cuales son los factores individuales comunes en los delincuentes,
- Analizar la influencia de los factores sociales, económicos e ideológicos en los diferentes periodos del pensamiento criminológico
- Conocer y analizar los principales resultados de la investigación criminológica desde una prespectiva psicológica
- Ser capaz de tener conciencia crítica frente a la realidad psicosocial y los problemas sociales respetando los principios de igualdad y derechos humanos.
