Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2022-23

Within the framework of the degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CAFD), this subject focuses on the functions and context of teaching action in the field of the physical-sports educator. The profile of this subject allows advanced training in the field of teaching in CAFD, offering learning opportunities for professional teaching and research projection. To this end, the subject is based on a change of concept in the subject of Physical Education, modifying a traditional vision focused exclusively on the development of the corporeal, to a Holistic Physical Education capable of developing physical, social and cognitive attitudes that favour the sustainable development of the planet. In this sense, this subject aims to serve as a theoretical and practical link between the so-called Quality Physical Education proposed by UNESCO and COLEF, while responding to the call of the United Nations to seek educational strategies that promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.

General Competences (CG)

  • CG1.1 : Capacity to identify, list, analyse, synthesise and apply the conceptual content determined by the subjects studied for the Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport degree.
  • CG1.2 : Capacity to manage information and knowledge in new and complex situations, solve problems and take decisions to develop instrumental content and procedures for the subjects in the Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport degree course.
  • CG2.1 : Ability for oral and written communication when developing conceptual and procedural content, with special attention to mastering argument and critical reasoning in the subjects in the Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport degree course.
  • CG2.2 : Use and integration of computing as applied to the subjects studied in the Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport degree course.
  • CG3.2 : Awareness and recognition of diversity and multiculturalism in the fields of teaching and learning, training and the promotion of health and recreation.
  • CG4.1 : Ability for interpersonal, and effective relationships and emotional control during teamwork and the development of leadership when carrying out learning activities and tasks in the subjects on the Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport degree course.
  • CG4.2 : Development of responsibility and the capacity for initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and originality in the instrumental learning of the subjects on the Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport degree course.
  • CG5.1 : Commitment to the values of equality with regard to questions of gender, diversity and democracy when practising physical activity and sport.
  • CG5.2 : Commitment to ethical values in sporting competition.

 

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE10 : Capacity to design, apply and evaluate high-quality processes, programmes and projects for teaching and learning physical activity among the adult population, the elderly and the disabled.
  • CE13 : Capacity to design, apply and evaluate high-quality processes, programmes and projects in the field of promoting long-lasting and autonomous habits of practising physical activity and sport, paying special attention to diversity and multiculturalism.
  • CE6 : Capacity to manage and apply knowledge of the principles of curriculum design and innovation.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2022-23

1. To acquire and apply good practice skills in Physical Education and problem solving from the dimensions of Education for Sustainable Development.
2. To apply collaborative learning and autonomous learning skills throughout the teaching professional life, as well as to learn to make decisions autonomously and reflectively.
3. Act under the ethical codes of teaching and research in AFD, seeking to promote positive social action in the areas of non-discrimination and democratisation of knowledge and skills.

1. Conceptual
To know the scope of Quality and Holistic Physical Education.
To interpret the current state of the debate and the new perspectives in Physical Education.
To build a conceptual and socio-cultural perspective that allows us to assess the scope of Physical Education for sustainable development.
To develop informed critical thinking on the possibilities of Physical Education.
To know and analyse the pedagogical models capable of mobilising competencies in pupils doing Physical Education in Secondary Education.
To establish the keys for efficient practice in the educational process during Secondary Education.

2. Methodological and procedural
To assume competencies in the processes of participation and commitment in the methodologies and work procedures in Physical Education.
To acquire skills in the processes of enquiry inherent to the curricular function and the articulation of theory and practice.
To develop competencies of interpretation and reflection of practice: to investigate the main problems in current schools.
Fostering the ability to design, analyse and evaluate proposals for innovation and research.
Develop innovative ways of working.
To develop skills in the ICT-ICT domain focused on future teaching performance.

3. Attitudinal
To develop dispositions, postures and attitudes of receptivity, tolerance and participation in the construction of knowledge through new learning centred on sustainability.
To investigate, reflect and encourage critical thinking through the practice of Physical Education.
To improve commitment and responsibility with the educational learning community.
