Learning outcomes (Training objectives)
-To know the main risk factors, prevalence and possible preventive measures for renal diseases.
-Perform the anamnesis of the nephro-urological patient. Perform the general examination aimed at evaluating the cause and consequences of renal diseases.
-Interpret clinical findings and complementary tests to diagnose and stratify acute kidney damage. Recognise risk factors and preventive measures for acute kidney injury.
-Interpret clinical findings and complementary tests to diagnose and establish the stages of chronic kidney disease. To know the basic elements that condition its progression and how to prevent them.
-To interpret the clinical findings and complementary tests to diagnose the major nephrological syndromes.
-Know the aetiology and physiopathology of the most frequent diseases affecting the kidney, urinary tract and male genital tract.
Know how to take a clinical history aimed at identifying nephrological, urological and male genital tract problems.
-Interpret the main analytical alterations related to nephro-urological pathology: Estimation of glomerular filtration rate. Ionic and acid-base balance alterations. Tumour markers. Interpretation of urinary sediment. Usefulness of urinary cytology. Quantification of proteinuria.
-To know the physical basis of renal replacement therapy with dialysis and its modalities, indications and results.
-To know the basic immunology of renal transplantation, its indications, technique, results and possible complications.
-Interpret the clinical findings and complementary tests to diagnose arterial hypertension and its treatment.
-Know the surgical indications for processes affecting the genitourinary system, the expected results, the risks involved and postoperative management.
