AIMS

 

The fundamental aim of the course is to produce Primary School teachers capable of contributing to the all-round development of children, taking their social, cultural and family context into account, understanding their needs and knowing how to respond to them.

Graduates should:

Acquire and understand the knowledge contained in each area of the course, training to work as Primary School teachers.

Know how to apply the knowledge acquired in a professional capacity, demonstrating their command of these skills through the preparation and defence of presentations, and problem-solving in each area of study.

Know how to collect and interpret relevant data from the different areas of study, expressing opinions based on a consideration of relevant social-educational, scientific and ethical issues.

Know how to transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions to specialised personnel involved directly and indirectly with the profession.

Acquire the necessary learning skills to further their education through independent study.

Promote respect for basic rights and equality between men and women.

Respect and promote Human Rights and the principles of free accessibility and design for all, in accordance with the terms of Final Provision Ten of Act 51/2003 of 2 December, on equal opportunities, non-discrimination and universal access for persons with disabilities.

CREDIT STRUCTURE OF THE DEGREE COURSE


Subjects in the Degree in Preschool Education, each worth 6 and 9 European ECTS credits, are organised into semesters. Specifically, students are required to take 30 credits per semester and 60 credits per year, for a total of 240 credits over four years.

In order to make the course compatible with other activities, students are allowed to take a part-time course consisting of 30 credits per academic year.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE PROGRAMME

The proposal of plan of studies of the title of Degree in Teacher in Childish Education is based in the R.D. 1393/2007, of 29 October, by which establishes the ordination of the university education officials (art. 12.9), in the Resolution of 17 December 2007 of the Office of Universities and Investigation, in the ORDER ECI/3854/2007, of 27 December and in the Rule for the Design, Preparation and Approval of the Plans of Study of Degree of the University of Alicante.
In this way, this plan of studies ascribes to the branch of the Social and Juridical Sciences for having 36 credits in included basic matters in this branch. Like this, the included matters in the planning of the title are in direct relation with the competitions that has to purchase the alumnado, that fixes the Ministerial order indicated and that are contemplated in the general and specific competitions of the degree.

Our title structures in four modules:
1. Basic training, to the that have assigned him 102 credits.
2. Didactic and Discipline, whose credits are 60.
3. Optatividad With 24 credits, with possibility of option to the Quotations in foreign Tongue: English, Physical Education, Music or Special Education/Pedagogy, if cursan the 24 credits in the optativas linked to said quotations.
4. Practicum And Work End of Degree, to the that correspond him 54 credits, completing like this the 240 of the Degree. The Practicum 3 and Work End of Degree can link to one of the quotations contemplated in the present plan of studies, realising practical in an educational centre under the tutorización of a professional of the corresponding speciality.

Once that the The ORDER ECI/3854/2007, of 27 December, by which establish the requirements for the verification of the official university titles that enable for the exercise of the profession of Teacher in Childish Education, establishes that in these educations will be able to propose quotations cualificadoras, adapted to the aims, cycles and areas of the Childish Education, that establish in the articles 13 and 14 of the Organic Law 2/2006, of 3 May, of Education; in the present Plan of Studies of Degree of Teacher in Childish Education propose the following quotations:

4. Quotation in Special Education/Therapeutic Pedagogy


To achieve any one of the quotations cualificadoras is precise that the student curse 24 credits of asignaturas of the Module of Optional corresponding to the quotation and the credits of the Practicum 3 and Work End of Degree.

Practicum And Work End of Degree

Practicum:

This University, for the realisation of the practices of the studies of teachers, has established an agreement with the Conselleria d%or2019Educació of the Generalitat Valencian.

This Agreement Marco, subscribed on 1 March 2007, establishes the acceptance of students of the plans of the Faculty of Education in the dependent educational centres of this Conselleria and sustained with public funds. Likewise, it fixes the composition of a Mixed Commission like organ commissioned of the organisation and the follow-up. Besides, by means of an Order, regulates the development of the practices of the students.

Obviously, in front of the development of this new Prácticum, is in a phase of extension and adecuación of the referred agreement.

Therefore, the Practicum of this degree will develop in centres of Childish Education, in the two cycles, recognised like centres of training in practices by means of the further up mentioned Agreement. Will have face-to-face character and will be tutelado by university professors and teachers of childish education accredited like tutors of practices by the Conselleria of Education.

To part of this Agreement Mark the Faculty will be able to establish agreements with different companies, institutions or private schools, subscribed to individual title.

This agreement mark, through a mixed commission, establishes that annually the Conselleria of Education will designate the centres and master participants in the development of the practices. In any case, the cooperation, the collaboration and the best practices procedimentales have been the tradition and the history between both institutions UA and Conselleria- and between the Faculty of Education and the school centres, what ensures the adecuación of this type of professionals to the formative needs of our alumnado.

The Practicum organises in three periods whose main characteristic are:

Period of Practices 1.
The context of the practical will be a school or a school with the stage of childish education. The learnings will do especially from a) the observation, the analysis and the reflection of the different elements of the reality of the childish school, and b) the participation colaborativa with the supervisor in the own actions of the educational, so much in the centre as in the classroom, especially in the work in corners. It would include especially the part of the Practicum corresponding to the Basic Training.

Period of Practices 2.
The context of the practical will be a school or a school with the stage of childish education. The learnings will do especially from to) the observation, the analysis and the reflection of the different elements of the classroom in the second cycle of childish education, so much in the centre as in the classroom, and b) the educational performance in the processes of interaction of learning with students, especially in the format of project of work and in specific proposals of workshops. It would include especially the part of the Practicum Didactic-Discipline.

Period of Practices 3.
In the third period the learnings centred in a proposal or specific intervention. It would include a greater degree of profesionalización educational. The Practicum 3 will be able to link to a quotation. To obtain a quotation will have to cursar the corresponding credits to the Practicum 3 linked to the corresponding quotation, realising practical in an educational centre under the tutorización of a professional of the corresponding speciality.

I work End of Degree.
Has compulsory character and consists of 6 credits. The Work End of Degree conceives like the final work through the cual the student shows and defends that it has purchased all the competitions required for the obtaining of the title of Teacher in Childish Education by the University of Alicante The Work End of Degree will be able to link to a quotation. To obtain a quotation will have to study the corresponding credits to the Work End of Degree linked to the corresponding quotation.


OPTIONAL SUBJECTS

The student or student will have to cursar 24 credits of optatividad that will have to choose between the asignaturas that offer like optativas. To obtain a Quotation will have to cursar the 24 credits of the asignaturas optativas linked to the corresponding Quotation.
Besides, the student will have to have guaranteeed the possibility to obtain academic recognition of until a maximum of six credits optativos of the total of the plan of studies cursado, by the participation in cultural university activities, sportive, of representation estudiantil, solidarias and of cooperation. Before the beginning of each academic course, the Council of Government will define the nature of the activities that will have this academic recognition.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT (IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE)

Students who study an undergraduate degree at the University of Alicante must confirm a minimum level of B1 in a foreign language (a B2 is recommended) in order to obtain the diploma.  

The required language level is in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. 

The language accreditation requirement can be obtained previously or at any time during university studies. However, the language requirement will be necessary in order to be able to assess the final year project.

LANGUAGE TEACHING COMPETENCE CERTIFICATE

Students who want to have a career in non-university teaching when they finish their studies are recommended to obtain the teaching competence certificate (Valencian and/or foreign languages).

This certificate can be obtained by taking specific itineraries in your university studies or by taking the UA teaching competence course in Valencian, German, French and English.

FINAL YEAR PROJECT (TFG)

All the official undergraduate degrees must be completed by preparing and defending a final year project, which must be done in the final phase of the studies and be aimed at the assessment of competences associated to the degree.

The final year project must be an original, independent and personal work. The elaboration of it may by individual or coordinated. Each student will prepare this project under the supervision of a tutor, allowing students to show the received training content in an integrated many, as well as the acquired competences associated to the undergraduate degree.

In order to register in the final year project, students must comply with the requirements established in the “Regulations for continuation studies for students registered in undergraduate degrees at the University of Alicante”. Among the requirements established to be able to register in the final year project, a minimum of 168 credits must be passed in undergraduate degrees with a total of 240 credits, and a minimum of 228 credits in undergraduate degrees with a total of 300 credits or more.

In order for the final year project to be assessed, a B1 level of a foreign language (B2 is recommended) must be confirmed.

ACCESS ROUTES

Admission to this degree course is open to any applicant who meets one of the following entrance requirements:

1.     SPANISH BACCALAUREATE (LOMCE) UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAM (PAU): Students can access this Degree by means of any Baccalaureate specialization.

Admission scores for this degree can be improved by taking the specific modules of the University Entrance Exam (PAU) as indicated in the table below with their respective weightings.

2.     PREVIOUS BACCALAUREATES WITH OR WITHOUT A PASS IN THE UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAM (PAU): Students who have completed their Baccalaureate under previous education systems and have passed the PAU will be able to use the mark obtained in their application.

However, students can take specific exam modules during the voluntary PAU exam period in order to improve their admission score as shown in table 1. They can also sit for the obligatory PAU exams, in which case they will have to take all the exams scheduled during this period.

3.     VOCATIONAL EDUCATION: Vocational educational qualifications such as senior technician, senior technician of plastic arts and design, or senior technician in sports is the preferred professional area although access to this degree may be through any professional field.

Admission scores can be improved by taking the PAU exam in up to 4 of the modules in table 1.

4.     STUDENTS FROM EDUCATION SYSTEMS IN COUNTRIES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION OR OTHER STATES WITH WHICH SPAIN HAS AN INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT: Accreditation is required and issued by Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED).

Students can sit for exams in subjects included in the Pruebas de Competencias Específicas (PCE), organised by the UNED, in order to improve their admission score up to 14 points as indicated in the weightings in Table 1.

5.     STUDENTS FROM FOREIGN EDUCATION SYSTEMS: Prior to applying for the validation of their foreign Baccalaureate, students may sit for up to 4 exams in subjects offered by the Pruebas de Competencias Específicas (PCE) organised by UNED (at least one subject from the core subjects).

The weightings indicated in table 1 will be applied to core and/or optional subjects.

6.     OTHER: University degrees and other similar qualifications. University entrance exam for students over 25 (preferential option: Social and Legal Sciences). Access on the basis of professional experience (applicants over 40 years of age). Access to applicants aged 45 years or more by means of an exam.
